Abstract：This article deals with the study of the metropolitan Geomantic configuration as well as the environmental evaluation process of beijing City in the view of a social anthropologist. As a typical Chinese metropolis, though Beijing City was built and desinged according to "the Book of Rites", through the mythological idea of " Eight arm Bishamentian City", it can be perceived that the designers of Beijing City had put emphasis on the principle of adapting to the surroundings. Through the ideology of geomantic configuration and mythology, we began to feel deeply the importance of environmental awareness in urban construction.
